    Sunday, 07 January 2018 – Brisbane – Auckland (D)

    This morning we will meet our Tour Escort and fellow travellers at Brisbane International Airport for our flight to Auckland, New Zealand. On arrival into Auckland International Airport we will be welcomed by a representative who will assist with luggage and coach transfer to our hotel.     Monday, 08 January 2018 – Auckland (B-L)

    This morning after breakfast we take a sightseeing tour of the ‘City of Sails’ which includes the panoramic city and harbour views from Bastion Point; trendy Parnell Village; the lovely bays of the waterfront drive and the vibrant Viaduct Harbour area. We also visit the Auckland Museum which gives an excellent introduction to the artistic legacy and cultures of the peoples of the Pacific; the monumental carvings, buildings, canoes and taonga (treasures) of the Maori; and the diversity of cultures which now combine to form the rich tapestry of race, nationality and creed which is modern New Zealand. This evening is at leisure to sample Auckland‘s excellent restaurants, cafés and bars. Our escort will let us all know of their plans for dinner and you may join if you wish.     Tuesday, 09 January 2018 – Auckland – Bay of Islands (B-D)

    After breakfast we depart Auckland and travel north over the Auckland Harbour Bridge to first visit the Parry Kauri Park. Here we will view some fine examples of Giant Kauri Trees. Continuing on we visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum, at Otamatea. Here we gain an insight to the early New Zealand pioneer history, which helped form the New Zealand that we see today. We then travel north through the Waipoua Forest surrounded by giant Kauri Trees then along the shores of the Hokianga Harbour to Paihia in the beautiful Bay of Islands.     Wednesday, 10 January 2018 – Bay of Islands (B-D)

    Following breakfast this morning we will enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty House where New Zealand’s history began. This afternoon is at your leisure – perhaps take a cruise (additional cost) through game fishing waters to the Cape Brett Lighthouse, visiting Motukokako Island, majestic Grand Cathedral Cave and passing through the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’ (conditions permitting).     Thursday, 11 January 2018 – Bay of Islands – Auckland (B-D)

    This morning after breakfast we will depart Paihia and travel south through undulating farmlands and the small settlements of Kawakawa and Hikurangi to the city of Whangarei. Continuing south through the rural townships of Warkworth and Wellsford we then pass the delightful beaches of the Hibiscus Coast before arriving in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest and most cosmopolitan city.     Friday, 12 January 2018 – Auckland – Rotorua (B-D)

    Following breakfast this morning we leave Auckland, and travel south crossing the Bombay Hills through the dairy rich Waikato countryside to arrive at the famous Waitomo Caves. Here a guide will take us underground to view the amazing limestone caves featuring stalagmites and stalactites, which have taken centuries to form. We continue to walk down to an underground stream to board a small boat to view the glow-worm grotto – an underground cavern featuring millions of glow-worms. From Waitomo we travel to the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, the Sulphur City. Rotorua has the most energetic thermal activity in the country with bubbling mud pools, gushing geysers, beautiful coloured hot springs and terrace formations created by mineral water. Rotorua also has a large Maori population whose cultural activities are interesting and accessible as will be witnessed tomorrow evening. This afternoon we can enjoy a relaxing guided walk through Rainbow Springs, a specialist garden featuring spring fed pools full of Rainbow & Brown Trout and New Zealand native flora and fauna including the iconic New Zealand Native Kiwi Bird.      This morning after breakfast is a full day of leisure.Our escort will let us know what their plans are for the day, whether it be going on optional excursions (additional cost) or wandering the local shops. If you would like to join in, you are more than welcome. This evening we are transferred from our hotel to visit Tamaki Maori Village for a Cultural Experience and Hangi Dinner.     Sunday, 14 January 2018 – Rotorua – Napier (B-L)

    Following breakfast this morning we will visit Te Puia – The New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley featuring the famous Pohutu Geyser.We then depart Rotorua and travel via New Zealand’s largest pine tree forests to Taupo. En-route we take a visit to the Wairakei Geothermal Steam Field. This was a world-first, generating electricity by tapping a natural steam field then channelling the steam to a nearby power generation plant.Continuing, we go on to view the mighty Huka Falls. Huka in Maori translates to “snow” as the water here has the appearance of snow falling as it is forced along from Lake Taupo through the falls on its journey along the Waikato River. This afternoon travel around the shores of Lake Taupo which is New Zealand’s largest lake and a world renowned trout fishery. Travel across the Rangitaiki Plains to Hawke’s Bay, and the seaside city of Napier. Napier was devastated by an earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt during the period when Art Deco Architecture was fashionable. The area is also one of New Zealand’s top grape growing regions with some of the country’s best-known wines coming from Hawke’s Bay. On arrival we will check into our hotel and then the evening is at leisure to go out and experience exceptional dining options or stay in and dine at the in house restaurant or nearby club.     This morning after breakfast we being to travel south past Hastings, passing through the wine growing and farming region of the Wairarapa Valley and drive into Wellington, the Capital City and Seat of Parliament. This afternoon we enjoy an informative sightseeing tour including visits to St Pauls – the original cathedral built entirely of wood, the modern city centre and the rose garden at the Botanic Gardens. The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore New Zealand’s capital city and make a visit to Te Papa (Our Place), New Zealand’s national museum. This evening we will meet for a Farewell Dinner.
