    DAY 2. ARRIVE BARCELONA
    Welcome to Spain and the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona! Meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director for a welcome drink this evening.

    DAY 3. BARCELONA
    Today we explore Barcelona, visiting its most famous sights. Our sightseeing includes the incredible La Sagrada Familia, Plaza Catalunya and the Plaza San Jaume. We’ll also travel to the top of Montjuic Mountain for panoramic views over the city and its harbour. Tonight we’ll enjoy a group welcome dinner at a local restaurant. [B,D]

    DAY 4. BARCELONA
    This morning we get acquainted with Antonio Gaudi’s Barcelona. See the incredible Casa Batllo, Casa Mila and visit Güell Park – home to more truly unique works of art by Gaudi. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore at your own pace. [B]

    DAY 5. BARCELONA – VALENCIA
    After a leisurely start we head south to the friendly coastal town of Valencia, the birthplace of paella. [B]

    DAY 6. VALENCIA
    This morning we’ll take a tour of the old city to see the historic bell tower, cathedral and the lively streets of Barrio de Carmen. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure for independent discovery. [B]

    DAY 7. VALENCIA – GRANADA
    Sit back and enjoy the scenery as we travel across the Spanish countryside to the historic city of Granada, rich with Moorish influences and set against the spectacular backdrop of the Sierra Nevada ranges. [B,D]

    Special Experience: Tonight we’ll enjoy a traditional Spanish tapas dinner.

    DAY 8. GRANADA
    This morning we’ll admire the intricate detail of the famous Moorish citadel, Alhambra Palace. Then wander through the beautifully manicured Generalife Gardens, the 14th century summer gardens of the former kings of Granada. [B]

    DAY 9. GRANADA – RONDA – CARMONA
    Today we travel west to Carmona. Our first stop is the town of Ronda, one of Andalusia’s famous ‘white’ villages. Perched above a deep gorge, the town’s location is truly spectacular. [B]

    DAY 10. SEVILLE EXCURSION
    We discover grand Seville on a morning sightseeing tour, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the historic Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz and the Royal Alcazar, a string of royal palaces built by the Catholic kings during the 14th century. The afternoon is at leisure for you to discover the delights of Seville. [B]

    DAY 11. ‘ROUTE OF THE WHITE VILLAGES’ EXCURSION
    Today we’ll travel the ‘Route of the white villages’. Our first stop is Arcos de la Frontera, characterised by brilliant white houses and narrow streets and balanced atop a rocky limestone ridge. This village was the frontier of Spain’s 13th century battle against the Moors, hence its name.

    Special Experience: Sherry is the most well known Spanish wine in the world and we’ll stop for a tasting at a cellar in the village of Jerez de la Frontera.

    Our final stop is coastal Cádiz, a beautiful town with an old-world charm, known for its Moorish architectural influences and ancient streets dating back to medieval times. [B]

    DAY 12. CARMONA – CORDOBA – MADRID
    After breakfast we depart for Cordoba. Here we’ll visit the incredible Mezquita mosque. The most important monument in the Western Islamic world and one of the world’s greatest works of Islamic architecture, it evokes the ‘Omeya’ style, as well as elements of gothic, renaissance and baroque design. Later this afternoon we’ll take the high-speed AVE train north to the grand city of Madrid. [B]

    DAY 13. MADRID
    Overflowing with palaces, museums and grand squares, Madrid is a truly majestic city.We’ll see the highlights on a city tour, including the famous avenues of Gran Via and Castellana, Plaza de Espana, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Castilla and Retiro Park. [B,D]

    Special Experience: This evening we’ll take a cooking class and discover the delights of typical Spanish cuisine and its regional specialties.

    DAY 14. TOLEDO EXCURSION
    We take a day trip to the historic town of Toledo, which lies dramatically atop a hill overlooking the Rio Tajo. Known for being a melting pot of religions and cultures, it’s also the birthplace of many famous artists. Our guided tour includes the incredible interior of the cathedral and the beautiful Santo Tome Church. [B]

    DAY 15. MADRID – SALAMANCA
    Enjoy the morning at leisure before we depart for Salamanca, an ancient city built from golden Villamayor stone. [B]

    DAY 16. SALAMANCA
    On our sightseeing tour today we’ll see Casa de las Conchas, the Roman Bridge and the Plaza Mayor, as well as the Old and New Cathedral and the University Quarter, home to the famous Salamanca University. [B]

    DAY 17. SALAMANCA – BILBAO
    This morning we travel north to Bilbao, the Basque Country’s largest city and a delightful mix of tradition and modernity. Along the way we’ll stop in the medieval town of Burgos and visit the French Gothic Cathedral of St Mary. [B]

    DAY 18. BILBAO
    Our city tour today includes the Santiago Cathedral, Plaza Nueva and Mercado de la Ribera. We’ll also make our way to the top of Mt Artxanda for spectacular city views. This afternoon we’ll explore Frank Gehry’s celebrated Guggenheim Museum, an architectural masterpiece. The building’s undulating organic exterior isn’t the only thing to see – the museum is also home to one of the world’s largest art collections. [B]

    DAY 19. SAN SEBASTIAN EXCURSION
    Stunning San Sebastian is famous for its pintxos (similar to tapas) and golden beaches and today we’ll get to experience both. We begin the day with a city tour and ride the cable car to the top of Igueldo Mountain for beautiful panoramic views of Santa Clara Island, Mount Ulia and La Concha Bay.

    Special Experience: Taste txakoli, the region’s famous dry white wine which pairs perfectly with a side of pintxos.

    There’ll be some free time for you to enjoy the beach location and soak up the sun. [B]

    DAY 20. BILBAO – LA RIOJA
    Today we venture inland to one of Spain’s most renowned wine regions, La Rioja. A backdrop of the Cantabrian Mountains and vineyards blanketing the Ebro Valley makes for some truly beautiful scenery. We’ll stop in the town of Vitoria and enjoy some free time to explore and have lunch. [B]

    DAY 21. LA RIOJA
    We’ll spend the day discovering some of the 500 wineries that make up this unique area, characterised by its ochre earth and abundance of sunshine. [B,L]

    This morning we depart for Zaragoza, where we’ll have some time to explore before we board the high-speed train back to Barcelona. Tonight we’ll enjoy a group farewell dinner. [B,D]
